How to Change Colors in Squarespace

Your color palette sets the tone for your entire website—it’s like your brand’s wardrobe. In Squarespace, you can think of your palette as a mix of two light colors, one accent color, and two dark colors. This combination gives you flexibility while keeping your site looking cohesive and polished.

Here’s how to update your color palette in Squarespace:

To edit your colors:

  1. In the left panel, click Website, then Styles
(Or just click the paintbrush icon in the top right corner of your site preview)

  2. In the Styles panel that appears on the right, click Colors

  3. Click Edit Palette

  4. Now you can:

    • Enter a HEX code (e.g., #baecdd) if you already have brand colors

    • Or, click a color swatch to choose a shade manually

    • Bonus: You can also scroll through Squarespace’s preset palettes if you're looking for inspiration

What are Color Themes?

Just below your main palette, you'll see color themes. These aren’t extra colors—they’re how Squarespace applies your palette across your site. Think of them as style presets for different sections of your site, like your About section, CTA blocks, or service highlights.

Each theme controls the appearance of key elements across your site, such as:

  • Heading and body text colors

  • Button styles

  • Backgrounds

  • Accordion or FAQ colors

It’s a powerful way to keep your brand colors consistent without having to tweak every section manually.

NOTE: You can override heading and body text colors directly in the section editor, but bullet point colors can only be changed through the color theme.
